Insert Hyperlinks and Lists
Insert Hyperlink

If you are giving a presentation on a computer that
has access to the Internet, then you may find it helpful
to have some hyperlinks in your slideshow, so that you
can click on a link while you are presenting and
then demonstrate a web site. To insert a hyperlink,
go to the menu bar and select Insert >> Hyperlink.
Then, a new window will appear for specifying
the information regarding the hyperlink you want
to insert into your document.

Inserting a List

Lists boxes are the same as any other text box. There
are many ways you can create lists in text boxes
in PowerPoint.

The first way is to create a new slide and choose a
slide from the pre-made layouts. You can recognize
a slide with a list object box by the bulleted list.

Another way to add a list is insert a new text box in
a slide. Then, click inside the box. Using the formatting
toolbar
, click on the Numbering or Bullets button.

To start making your list, simply click your cursor next
to the first bullet and type. To add a new item to the
list, just hit the Enter key on your keyboard to begin a
new line.

Text Content Layout

What are AutoLayouts?

An AutoLayout contains placeholders for titles, text and
objects such as clip art, graphs or tables that you may
want to put on a slide. PowerPoint XP offers dozens of Autolayouts
to choose from. You are not limited only
by these options, however. As you will see later in this
handout, anything can be added to any slide. To create
a slide, hover your mouse over the icon of the
AutoLayout
that matches the layout of the slide you
want to make. The name of the selected AutoLayout
appears as a little post-it note. If this is the AutoLayout
want to use, click on the down arrow and choose to
either Insert New slide or Apply to Selected Slides to
change the layout of the slide you are currently
working on.

Working with Text

the text box to add text. To add a text box to the slide,
select Insert > Text Box

the text box with the mouse. Set text editing options

clicking
the Edit tab.

Using Text Placeholders
You can insert text on slides by selecting an AutoLayout

for titles or bulleted lists. The text formatting, which
includes the font, alignment and bullets, depends on
the design template you selected. To add text to a slide
in Slide View, simply click on a text placeholder (Or you
can simply type in your text next to the numbered slide
icon in the Outline View). The directions on the
placeholder
will disappear, leaving an empty text box
with a flashing insertion point. Begin typing.
Text automatically wraps as you reach the right border
of the placeholder. When you're done, click anywhere
else on the slide. To edit text, move the mouse pointer
over the text (note that it becomes an I-beam), click
and edit.

When making a bulleted list, you automatically create
the next bulleted item every time you press Enter. To
create sublevels, click the Demote (Indent more) button
on the Formatting toolbar. To move up a level, click

to five levels.
